Site Clearance in Peterborough

Peterborough’s warehouse and distribution growth, including the Gateway park, and its new-town expansion provide context for commercial site-clearance enquiries. They are not claims that AS Arboriculture has worked at those developments. Our service addresses agreed vegetation and tree operations on a defined site, with the intended handover condition recorded before cutting. Developers, plot owners and commercial managers should identify what must be removed, what must remain and whether the aim is survey access or later construction preparation.

Protected trees and ecology still matter on commercial land. Peterborough City Council’s ash dieback planning is another reason to distinguish a managed response to tree condition from an assumption that all ash can be removed. A council-wide plan does not authorise work on your plot. Send the site postcode, drawings, access details and any existing surveys when requesting a free site visit and written estimate.

Where several contractors will follow the clearance, name the handover requirements for each area. A survey route and a later working compound may need different finishes. Recording those distinctions avoids treating one cleared strip as proof that the entire development footprint is ready.

A commercial brief needs a clear boundary

Mark the clearance area and retained features on a drawing or photographs. Include trees, hedges, drainage routes and adjacent occupied premises. An instruction to clear the site can otherwise conceal different expectations about roots, levels and material handling. Access for surveyors may require only a defined opening rather than full vegetation removal. A construction-stage request may have further project requirements that need separate agreement. Warehouse or distribution settings can also involve deliveries and live access. Describe those constraints before choosing the sequence, rather than assuming the whole plot can close during work.

Protected trees and Peterborough applications

TPO trees and trees in conservation areas need the relevant checks before cutting. Peterborough’s works-to-protected-trees application route is PF31, with no fee for the tree application. That does not mean every proposed operation is approved or that separate project permissions are free. Check the current council instructions and the actual tree location before submitting. We offer TPO and conservation-area advice and help with applications. A clearance quotation should not be treated as evidence of consent, and a development deadline does not override the procedure that applies to retained or proposed removal trees.

Ash dieback is not a blanket clearance instruction

Peterborough City Council endorsed an ash dieback plan covering about 22,600 council-owned ash trees. That figure concerns the council’s stock, not every ash in the city or the trees on an individual private plot. Condition, location and the consequences of failure need assessment. A tree with symptoms is not automatically a removal job, and brittle or unstable timber can change how any agreed work is carried out. The linked council report and ash-dieback guide provide context. Permission requirements and ownership remain separate questions even where disease is suspected.

Distinguishing site, land and vegetation clearance

Site clearance is aimed at the agreed development or commercial objective. Land clearance may suit a plot owner seeking access through scrub before surveys, while vegetation clearance can address growth along boundaries and corridors. These services overlap physically but should not repeat the same undefined instruction. Explain whether stumps, soil stripping, levelling or later preparation are part of the intended project. Buried services and ecology can limit the method or timing. Select the relevant service link below and describe the result rather than specifying a machine without assessing the ground.

RAMS, material handling and an agreed handover

RAMS are supplied for every commercial job, and roadside operations may require Chapter 8 traffic management. An occupied site needs arrangements for pedestrians, deliveries and adjoining activity. Waste is removed, with timber and green waste recycled where possible within the agreed scope. Unexpected non-green material should be disclosed rather than assumed to be ordinary vegetation. Set out the handover condition and who checks it against the project brief. A written estimate can then distinguish clearance from follow-on construction tasks, with the Peterborough town hub linking local context and the main service pages explaining the wider operations.

Site Clearance in Peterborough: questions

No. The council-owned tree figure and action plan do not authorise work on private land. Assess the tree and check the applicable protection and permissions separately.
